Sean Byrne’s The Devil’s Candy wins at Gerardmer Film Festival

Sean-Byrne-01 Sean Byrne’s latest feature film, The Devil’s Candy, has won two awards at the Gerardmer International Film Festival in France.

The award-winning director’s latest offering won the Prix du Public – Audience Award along with Best Original Score award.

Congratulations to Sean who is currently in Australia developing his next feature film.

Shaun Grant Nominated for AACTA Award

Shaun-Grant-profileThe nominations for the 5th AACTA Awards have been announced with congratulations going to Shaun Grant.

Nominated for Best Screenplay in TV with co-writer, Jacquelin Perske for Foxtel’s successful mini-series, Deadline Gallipoli, (Part One), produced by Matchbox Pictures.

Congratulations should also go to the the ABC series Glitch, nominated for Best Drama and shot by TFA’s Simon Chapman.

Sean Byrne’s feature film received excellent reviews after it’s debut screening at MIFF.

MIFF to screen feature film, Sucker – Saturday 15 August 4pm

Sucker is the debut feature film from director Ben Chessell and comedian Lawrence Leung.  Lawrence and Ben co-wrote the screenplay which stars legendary British actor, Timothy Spall.

MIFF is screening Sucker on Saturday 15 August at 4pm at Hoyts 11.

Shaun Grant to adapt ‘The Last Duel’ for Studio 8, Francis Lawrence to Direct

Shaun Grant has been set to adapt the Eric Jager novel The Last Duel for Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 helmer Francis Lawrence is attached to direct with Erwin Stoff producing. Set in France, The Last Duel is the true story of a duel in 1386 between knights Jean de Carrouges and Jacques Le Gris. It was the final duel sanctioned by the French government, ruled at the time by King Charles VI.

AACTA Nomination for Production Designer Chris Kennedy

Congratulations to Chris Kennedy, 2015 AACTA Award Nominee for Production Design for his outstanding work on The Water Diviner, Directed by Russell Crowe.  Kennedy has been honoured previously by the AFI (now AACTA) and was also the 2005 recipient of the Byron Kennedy Award for Outstanding Creative Enterprise. He is currently in pre production on location in India for the forthcoming feature film, Lion starring Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel (See-Saw Films).
