Cut Snake is a period crime drama set in Melbourne based around an ex-con Pommie (Sullivan Stapleton) who reconnects with a former associate Sparra (Alex Russell) and his new girlfriend Paula (Jessica De Gouw). Pommie’s imposition on their lives creates all sorts of havoc in a twisted, darkly comedic crime yarn.

Sean Byrne’s new feature to premiere at TIFF for Midnight Madness

Sean-Byrne-01Sean Byrne, the director of the 2009 Midnight Madness People’s Choice Award winner The Loved Ones is back with another high octane feature film.  The Devil’s Candy tells the story of a struggling artist (Ethan Embry) and his family who buy the house of their dreams only to discover the property’s mysterious dark past and a former tenant who wants more than to simply come back home.  From the producers of previous Midnight Madness hits You’re Next and The Guest.

MIFF to screen feature film, Sucker – Saturday 15 August 4pm

Sucker is the debut feature film from director Ben Chessell and comedian Lawrence Leung.  Lawrence and Ben co-wrote the screenplay which stars legendary British actor, Timothy Spall.

MIFF is screening Sucker on Saturday 15 August at 4pm at Hoyts 11.

Shaun Grant has been set to adapt the Eric Jager novel The Last Duel for Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 helmer Francis Lawrence is attached to direct with Erwin Stoff producing. Set in France, The Last Duel is the true story of a duel in 1386 between knights Jean de Carrouges and Jacques Le Gris. It was the final duel sanctioned by the French government, ruled at the time by King Charles VI.
