Watching You – Creators for Television – Lingo Pictures / Stan

 

Alexei Mizin is an award-winning screenwriter and one half of a writing team with Ryan van Dijk. Both writers are developing numerous high-end projects, including adapting a John Wyndham book for Route 24 (UK) and Brouhaha (AU), and developing an original series for a global streaming service here in Australia. Currently, they are adapting ‘The Last Guest’, a J.P. Pomare novel in to a compelling series called Watching You for Lingo Pictures and Stan.

In 2018, Alexei and Ryan partnered with The Fleming Agency and sold original IP to Apple. Soon after, they became attached to a number of projects including a novel adaptation with Apple, and secured a development deal with the AMC Network in the USA. Alexei has worked widely around Australia in writers’ rooms for See Saw Films, Fremantle, Matchbox Pictures, Aquarius Films and others.

Earlier in his career, Alexei received Screen Australia development funding for Vanished, a supernatural feature which won the Monte Miller Award at the 47th Annual AWGIE Awards. Alexei was invited into the AWG’s Pathways Program and has completed numerous project-based and talent initiatives with the backing of Film Victoria, Scripted Ink, Australians in Film and Screen Australia, including Talent USA in 2018. A graduate of the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts with a Master of Film and Television, Alexei’s music videos and short films have screened worldwide and earned distinction for writing and direction.

Prior to writing, Alexei garnered production experience working as an assistant for writer/directors Stuart Beattie on I, Frankenstein and Julius Avery on Son of a Gun. He has also worked with actor/writer/executive producer Nikolaj Coster-Waldau on Gods of Egypt, with further production credits on HBO’s The Leftovers, Hacksaw Ridge, and Top of the Lake.
